Sorry for this non-halal post
but the serious craving-ness
and desire to go on a major food hunt
since the wedding is seriously taking control!
#1 Gerai Makanan Japanese BBQ
Tucked away in an alleyway
in Taman Desa (behind Faber Tower)
is this really cool DIY mamak styled
Japanese BBQ shop.
I was expecting it to be you-know, mamak style
as in hot, mosquitoes, dark
and maybe a bit of a struggle to find a seat
but it was ALL good!
(Well except for the constant smoke in your eyes,
i mean you are afterall at a BBQ place!)
It has probably revamped
from what ive seen on reviews
but definitely a huge HIT on my list.
So glad we actually took the time
to look for the place,
although i must say it was
relatively easy to find.
TIP: The Jap Risotto (pic above) is a specialty and not on the menu so remember to request for it if you want to try! Also it can be pretty pricey, it came up to almost RM90 just the two of us (the boy had two bottles of beer) and they ONLY ACCEPT CASH.
So come prepared! :)
Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ

and have actually been here twice before
but was somehow had just eaten
or was not feeling well
and had NEVER tried it here.

Will definitely be back for more.

#3 Choon Yien & Food Foundry @ Happy Mansion
Im probably the most
outdated person in town.
Just behind my place,
lives a small community apartment
called Happy Mansion.
And the place reminds me of my grandparents'
place in Penang, totally made me HAPPY literally! haha
And they have the best chicken rice here ever
at Restaurant Choon Yien.
So good that the boys had to call in advance
to order and reserve meat for them
before its all gone by 1pm.
Crazy.
Proceeded to try desserts
at Food Foundry,
which is one block ahead of Choon Yien
and behind Butter + Beans Cafe.
The boys tried both the salted caramel
and chocolate mille crepe,
which vanished in minutes.
I (personally dont like mille crepes)
tried the baked cheesecake,
which is simple but yet delicious.
Didnt hear raving comments about their food
but I wont mind coming back to try them tho one day. :)
