Welcoming December Over the Weekends!

Saturday




Started off Saturday morning
with Chee Cheong Fun at the famous
Hai Keng Restaurant for RM3 a plate.

Lucky us as we arrived at 8:55am
and it was sold out by 9:05am. Crazy.

There are two Chee Cheong Fun stalls here.
One by an auntie that serves yong tau foo as well
and another by an old man that serves it plain.

We tried both.

As reviews stated and we both agreed,
the old man (which is closer to the back of the restaurant)
was clearly the winnner despite it being cold and plain,
but there was just something in the sauce
that strongly distinguished it from its competitor.

Later that afternoon was followed
by my volunteer work with *World Vision*
on the on-going project, Gift of Hope 2013.

Basically instead of just doing one-off donations,
World Vision has now done it in a more creative manner
to donate a goat/ chicken/ football/ clean water/ healthcare etc
to these children and their community.

Also, it can be a great gift for Christmas
if you have yet to get your loved ones anything yet
as you can donate it on behalf of your loved ones' names
and send it in a giftcard.

Good karma, yo! :)





No doubt one of the most tiring
but fruitful day of my entire year
and we're so glad to have hit our target
that evening thanks to the most generous crowd.

Woke up at 11am
for the first time in months
and the boy took me for brunch at J&D Espresso.

We had the big Aussie breakfast,
eggs benedict and this lovely chocolate jaffa cake.

Portions are small as indicated on the reviews
and a lil small in fact for us to indulge to even taste
but I would consider to come back for their famous pork burger.

Not bad I would say. :)

More food hunt!

Restaurant AhWa, Jalan 222




I dont get what took us so long
to try this or the matter of fact,
why ive never ever heard about this place,
really surprises me.

Yes. They are famous for their Hokkien mee
and yes they are pricey: RM7 single portion, RM14 double,
but you have to understand the quality
you come for and we're were more than happy
to just comply and pay!

It is as what they say,
'Black gold in a pot'. Literally.




Also to try,
recommended by the society
on Foursquare,
we tried the Ham & Cheese pancakes,
and didnt disappoint as well!

There are loads of other flavours too!
Would love to go back for their savory ones!

The best part about it is AhWa restaurant
has got to be one of the most cleanest hawkers,
ive ever been to!

It was a really satisfying dinner!

So there was almost no bad reviews
for this place and we decided to try it
for dinner last week.

Everything was delicious.

Some reviews were saying its not as great as
the originals in Macau but
we'll take what we can get yo!

Fried pork chops bigger than buns
are strangely not greasy
and just absolutely succulent to bite into.




We tried both the signature and polo bun.
The boy prefers the latter.

Heard noodles were good and stringy
so we asked for a bowl of plain noodles
and along side of another famous dish,
their fishball with curry.

Someone even left a review saying that their fishball,
is as good as the ones in Macau,
considering they import their fishballs from Malaysia anyway!

Tip: Mix the fishball curry into the noodles, absolutely yummy!

I forgot to take a picture
but their one and only dessert, Sawdust cake
was pretty good too to end a meal.

We left with a happy tummy.

S.wine and Swich Cafe, Publika

So we finally penned down a time
to go visit this pork lovers cafe
after yoga last Sunday.




A must try apparently, the pigs in a blanket,
which is a pork sausage wrapped in bacon.

It was good until we found
one of it wasnt cooked
and then i freaked out because
I didnt actually check the rest
before swallowing down 2 prior to that!

So yes, check if your pigs in blanket are properly cooked!




French toast with caramelised bananas,
bacon and peanut butter.

Another recommended,
which we found it nice
but it wasnt mind blowing.

Decent, i'll say.




Bacon and sausage pasta
in a creamy tomato base sauce.

This is a winner
but unfortunately it was so creamy
that despite us sharing it,
we almost couldnt finish it!

I wouldnt quote that as a bad review
as I thoroughly enjoyed it,
but if you're not into the creamy pasta type,
then maybe something else would interest you better.

We walked around for a bit
before settling on to try
Swich cafe's desserts that we've heard
so much about.

Also because we knew that they had
joined partner to donate 10% of their takings
to the *Haiyan relief* in the Philippines.




We were going to try
their signature durian cake
or peanut butter cake
but as my friends know,
i have a secret weakness to orange cakes.

And yes this was a Orange and Belgium Chocolate cake. ;p

Good but it could really do without
the creamy center bit
which kinda spoils the consistency.

Still funny enough,
just cant beat *Nutmeg's version* tho.

Playing tourist to my bridesmaids!

People who know me well knows
that ive alot of acquaintance
but im not the best in
keeping in touch with my friends.

However, this is what i love about my friends;
When we do get together to talk,
its like the communication never stopped
and we can chat away for hours and hours! :)

Im so lucky to have the most
wonderful friends,
that a girl can ever ask for. xxx

Took the girls to the
Ming Tien foodcourt in Taman Megah, PJ
and it was an absolute cultural shock to them
as everyone came serving food
in Malay, English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

They were so confused, too cute!




EuFox and Nelly had volunteered the next day to
bring all of us to Raju's (Off Jalan Gasing),
which was literally an under-a-tree Indian food experience
and i dont think all of them fancied it. HAHA!

Next, brought them for dessert
at Brickfields for the famous
Goreng Pisang, Cendol and also ABC!
(nearby YMCA and the blind school)




For dinner,
the girls and I headed to the most
touristy part of Kuala Lumpur,
which was the KLCC twin towers
for the water fountain show, shopping and dinner.






Miin joined us too! :D





And for dinner,
the girls decided its time for a break
from all the spicy, Malaysian food
and chose to dine at Ben's.




It's prolly the best food they had so far
in the last 24 hours alongside this delicious
apple crumble for dessert. HAHA!

I spent a few nights with the girls
just staying up late and chatting away,
updating each other on each others' lives. :)




All worn out and finally home!

This is the anti-social part of the night! HAHA!

Ive finally decided to cut my hair.

Been looking for a hairdresser
since my regular one did *this* to me
on my wedding day...

Was happy with the outcome
with this new hairdresser i tried
but she was so damn rude.

So, im not going back. -_-

And the hunt for a new hairdresser continues...

Its been 2 weeks since
ive done any yoga classes
due to some personal issues
and im dying to get back out there.

Luckily its back to normal this week! :)

but i wore the boy's slippers
and my shoes down to my parents' house.

I didnt even realise
until i took them out
to put them in the shoe cabinet. T_T

Thank goodness i wasnt going to a mall, i tell you.

Finally tried the famous Gold Chilli Restaurant,
right next to Darulsalam in SS15 Subang Jaya (near the wet market).

The boy had their famous Tom Yam Fried Rice
and I had their butter fried chicken.

Hmmm. Yum!

The place is usually pack from 8pm-11pm,
so make sure you're there early
as seats are limited in that tiny shop!

So sad to leave them everytime I leave my parents' house.

Nosh, Bangsar

Nosh has been on our to-eat-list
for a while now,
so we decided to try out
their brunch menu last Tuesday.




'Will you berry me' pancakes with berry compote.

This was mine and im so glad i chose this.
Perfect and highly recommended.

One of the best ive had so far, including
the ones from *Pancake House of Paddington*.




The Full Monty was the boy's brunch.

A very protein-licious meal
but the beef bacon was a tad-bit dry
according to the boy.





We were close to being full
but we were here mainly for its
famous desserts and just couldnt
leave the place without trying!

What we didnt know was that desserts
are a minimum order of 2 types (or 3 in a set)
and i really wanted to try their orange cake
so we also ordered their peanut butter cake to try.

The boy didnt quite like the peanut butter cake,
to his exact words, they didnt exactly taste
like peanut butter altho im quite sure he meant
the ones from the jar.

I felt that the peanut butter was done from scratch (own made)
and thought it was nice. Not the best but still good.

As for the orange cake,
it was still delish despite it being a bit dry.
I would say i still prefer the one from *Nutmeg Cafe*.
